Places are available to anyone who has been unemployed for over 6 months. We offer temporary employment for up to one year. Terms and conditions are flexible to meet the needs of our client group. Added benefits include vocational training, support with basic skills and job search.
Variety of work available:
The Biodiversity Team: carry out conservation at a variety of local nature reserves. The work includes many traditional crafts such as hedge-laying, coppicing, meadow management, footpath maintenance and fencing.
The Construction Team:
work on hard and soft landscaping projects that help to improve local community spaces, canal tow paths and public gardens. The work includes constructing play areas, designing and planting sensory gardens and erecting pergolas, tables and benches.
Our trainees work on community projects. They work in partnership with community groups, voluntary organisations and the private sector, to enable us to reach our targets on:
Housing: We have established close links with social housing companies. The programmes include local labour and apprenticeship training programmes, smoke alarm fitting and landscaping.
Culture & Heritage : We work closely with local authority departments dealing with countryside, heritage management and regeneration issues.
Crime & Community Safety : We work with long term unemployed people, ex-offenders and drug addicts to create a positive working environment.
Health: We have a local food network, promoting the five a day initiative and food box schemes which promote health in the communities and amongst our trainees.
Economic Prosperity: We create job opportunities for local long-term unemployed people, within the most deprived wards.
